A neighbor’s garage might be all you need or even an outdoor area, providing your merchandise will be sufficiently protected from the weather. Sometimes, people are willing to allow you to use a space providing you are willing to maintain it for them.

Also, don’t overlook businesses with empty rooms that are no longer needed. These can often be rented quite cheaply as they are otherwise wasted space. Whatever space you use, remember to insure yourself against loss – it’s best not to rely on the existing policy, it rarely protects what amounts to a new .
